Hi,

I'm using ADMT version 2.0 to restructure a Windows NT 4.0
domain to a Windows 2000 (Native Mode) domain. So far
everything goes well except for the passwords that I want
to migrate.

Concerning the requirements of ADMT I've followed all the
instructions from Microsoft. When I try to migrate the
passwords I get the following message from the ADMT log

"2003-11-10 13:50:49 WRN1:7557 Failed to copy the password
for MigUser2. A strong password has been generated
instead. Unable to copy password. Access is denied..
2003-11-10 13:50:50"

Those anyone has any idea to solve the problem.

Thank you

Jacques,

This error message typically indicates a failure to resolve names. Verify
that Domain Name System (DNS) and NetBIOS (WINS) name resolution is working
correctly for both domains.

This problem can occur if the password export server is unable to resolve
the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the destination server. NOTE:
Version 2 of the Active Directory Migration Tool requires both NetBIOS and
host (DNS) resolution.

To resolve this problem, configure the password export server to use the
DNS server of the destination domain.

Make sure that the password policies are the same in both source and target domains.
